Moran along with Albert Bierstadt, Thomas Hill, and William Keith are sometimes referred to as belonging to the Rocky Mountain School of landscape painters because of all of the Western landscapes made by this group.

Wow These are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI have a watercolor of the Bridal veil falls painting which I have inherited from my father. Family tradition says that it was painted by a relative who was alive at the turn of the last century and I was amazed when I first saw the original painting on the web as I have quite literally grown up with the same image.
I live in England and would welcome any Ideas on how this painting could have been copied?

Hi Mark, I think you're lucky, but I'm afraid I wouldn't know how to set about finding the provenance of your painting. I imagine it would have been copied from a museum exhibit but don't know.
