A comprehensive look at Italian poster design, from vintage to modern posters (1895 - 1971) designed by numerous designers and artists. I have included individual biographies of the artists, where found.

1899 Marcello Dudovich (1878 - 1962) was an Italian painter, illustrator, and poster designer. Together with Adolfo Hohenstein, Giovanni Mario Mataloni, and Leopoldo Metlicovitz he is considered one of the most important Italian poster designers.

Gian Emilio Malerba (1878 Milan -1926) was an Italian painter and illustrator, one of the founders of the Novecento Italiano in Milan. He initially created works in a Liberty or Art Nouveau style. He studied at the Brera Academy under Cesare Tallone and Giuseppe Mentessi. His first exhibit at the Academy was in 1906, works influenced by the Scapigliatura movement. In 1913, he was awarded the Canonica prize. In 1906 he created cover pages for “Lettura” and “Ars et Labor.”

Giuseppe Cappadonia was a painter, illustrator and comic artist from Milan. He attended Brera Academy, learning the profession from teachers like Giuseppe Mentessi, Achille Cattaneo and Vespasiano Bignami. In the early 20th century he was mainly doing advertising and poster art.
