Dutch Posters 1875-1935 - part 6

 The Dutch have been producing quite high quality advertising posters from about the 1870s to the present day. I've managed to source so many that I will post these in two series: Posters from 1875 to 1935, and at a later date a series of posters from 1875 to 1987. Individual artists biographical notes given where found.

Bernard van Vlymen (Vlijmen) (1895 The Hague, Netherlands -1977 Bardolino, Italy) studied at the Rijksacademie, Amsterdam and was mainly active in advertising art and book illustration. He also made many drawings of 1920s and 30s Amsterdam and portraits of famous inhabitants, now stored in the Ciry Archive. He was a also a painter and watercolour artist.

Rie Cramer: Marie "Rie" Cramer (1887 – 1977) was a Dutch writer and prolific illustrator of children's literature whose style is considered iconic for the interwar period. For many years, she was one of the two main illustrators for a leading Dutch youth magazine, Zonneschijn (Sunshine). She also wrote plays under the pseudonym Marc Holman. Some of her work was banned during World War II because it attacked National Socialism, and she wrote for a leading underground newspaper during the war.
