The Dutch have been producing quite high quality advertising posters from about the 1870s to the present day. I've managed to source so many that I have posted these in two series: Posters from 1875 to 1935 (see index) this series 1935 to 1987. Individual artists biographical notes given where found.
This is part 6 of 6 parts on Dutch Posters 1935-1935. For earlier works, see parts 1 - 5 also.

|
Hans Moller (Germany 1905 - Allentown, Pennsyvania 2000) was a German born American artist who worked mostly in an abstract format and is primarily considered to have been a colourist.
In 1936 he emigrated to the united States from Germany to protect his Jewish wife from the Nazis. Once settled in the U.S. he went to work for the advertising firm Lord and Thomas as a graphic designer and works of his from that endeavor were exhibited at MoMA as part of a group exhibition in 1949. The first solo exhibition of his paintings was held in 1942 at the Bonestell Gallery in New York City. In the following twenty years or so he had some twenty five solo exhibitions at various galleries. Moller created paintings in a multiplicity of styles.

1957 Kerst- en nieuwjaarstelegrammen voor Nederlandse schepen op zee Artist: Ted Schaap |
Ted Scapa (born January 17, 1931 in Amsterdam, as Edward Schaap) is a Dutch/Swiss contemporary artist, former publisher and television presenter. Sometime during his life Ted changed his name from Schaap to Scapa, hence there are designs with both surnames.
After completing his art studies at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague, he married Meret Meyer in 1962, the daughter of the publisher Hans Meyer-Benteli, and moved to Switzerland. Here he was director of the Benteli publishing house and became famous for his children’s program Das Spielhaus (The playhouse) on Swiss television. His cartoon and children’s books as well, as the caricatures he executed for domestic and international newspapers, such as the Nebelspalter or Weltwoche, brought his comic visual language widespread popularity and bore his unmistakable signature.
